It’s Friday, which means it’s time to rage with your internet abobo besties! Abortion AF is back with your weekly scoop of abortion news and action items—AKA the fuel you need to fight back and still make it to brunch. Let’s kick off the weekend with facts, fury, and a plan.
Georgia Replaces Healthcare With Horror
Gruesome doesn’t begin to cover it: Adriana Smith is brain-dead, but because she was nine weeks pregnant, the state of Georgia is keeping her alive to deliver a baby—and her family has NO say in the matter. All because of the state’s abortion restrictions, which ban abortion if a fetal cardiac pole is detected, doctors are legally forced to keep her on life support until the fetus can survive. Adriana’s loved ones are powerless and grieving while the state that imposed this cruelty won’t pay a cent of the hospital bills. Georgia is inflicting this barbaric torture on Adriana and her family, and we’ll NEVER STOP calling out the state for treating pregnant people like lab rats instead of human beings.
Taking Medical Advice From The Guy Who Will Drink Anything But Water
Health Secretary RFK Jr. (recently pictured swimming in literal shit stew) directed the FDA to review the regulations around the abortion pill mifepristone based on a junk study by a conservative think tank.
The study, which wasn’t peer-reviewed and has been criticized as having serious methodological flaws, not only calls for outdated restrictions on the pill, but potentially removing it from the market altogether based on its results. So let us reiterate one (thousand) more time(s): ABORTION PILLS ARE SAFE!! Don’t let the anti-abortion dweebs convince you otherwise.
Feminist Buzzkills Are OFF this week!
