We’re not gonna sugarcoat it – the last week and a half has been absolute horseshit. It doesn’t matter that we knew the attacks to our rights and communities were coming, the horror of watching them unfold day by day doesn’t alleviate the toll. It’s true that we’ve been in these threatening places before and made it out, but not all of us survived and our hearts are heavy knowing many won’t survive this time, either.
But we’re here with you in your rage and grief, and we’ll be together when we all turn that rage into collective power, and make the bigots regret every damn terrible thing they do!
And shit, they’ve done a lot already.
They Don’t Want No Scrubs; They Want ALL The Scrubs
On day one of the new Trump administration, a top priority was taking down Reproductiverights. gov, the government site with essential info on abortion and healthcare rights. Apparently, just having information was too much access to anything related to abortion… or birth control, or emergency and preventive care while pregnant. ALL OF IT was included on the site. Just wow.
At least now they’re truly proving how little of a fuck they give about our rights and health!
Don’t Pardon My Language: Fuck You!
Trump pardoned even more terrorists and it better make the news. Yep.The 21 anti-abortion assholes who terrorized abortion providers, AND were convicted of breaking a federal law called the FACE Act – are free to go. As a reminder, the FACE Act was passed in direct response to violent escalation of harassment from anti-abortion extremists, culminating with the murder of Dr. David Gunn in Pensacola, Florida. And now, 21 people convicted of harming abortion clinics and their patients can wake up and go on to harass and intimidate even more clinics with no fear of EVER BEING PUNISHED!
“HOW COULD THAT BE?” you ask.
Because elected detritus like Rep. Chip Roy and Sen. Mike Lee are busy introducing legislation to repeal the FACE Act! Roy responded to Lee’s bill by complaining that 97% of FACE Act prosecutions came against all of his buddies who terrorize abortion clinics and patients. THAT’S BECAUSE THE ANTI-ABORTION MOVEMENT IS VIOLENT AND THE ENTIRE REASON THE FACE ACT WAS PASSED, YOU ABSOLUTE TURNIP. Get your shit together.
This Is Why We Have To Say We’re Canadian When We Travel
It’s not if but when Trump, like his Republican predecessors, reinstates the Mexico City Policy. More commonly known as the global gag rule, it bars foreign non-governmental organizations (NGOs) receiving US funding from providing or offering any information about abortions. This devastating rule has and will shutter health clinics that provide integral family planning and HIV services, increase unwanted pregnancies and unsafe abortions, and stifles advocacy and free speech that has the potential to affect all foreign aid, even if it isn’t health-related. Gee, they wonder why the rest of the world hates Trump… seems pretty damn obvious to us.

None of that even touches on the hundreds of insurrectionists pardoned or the mass immigration clusterfuck and deportations already happening, but it’s all tied together!
