The DC BS is revving up this week, ready to roll out the red carpet for their Dear Leader. So let’s yank off the 2025 band-aid (it’s only January—SOB), dive into the latest anti-abortion shenanigans, and then lace up our boots to go raise some hell!
Shocked-Not-Shocked: The New Congressional Priorities Can Suck A Dick
Whadya s’pose this newly-installed anti-abortion congress’s first order of business is? Lowering food costs… middle-class tax cuts…? HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHH fuck no! They are doing the shit no one asked for or needs and introducing “born alive” legislation to “fix” the totally made-up problem of babies born alive after abortion procedures. Is this an actual issue? NO. Will it only serve to stigmatize abortion care and demonize abortion providers? YES. Is there a seat at the right hand of Satan for one Ann Wagner, a WOMAN, introducing this bill AGAIN? Affirmative. Do we hate this timeline? YOU’RE DAMN RIGHT.
Popular Opinion: Mandatory Waiting Periods Should Be For Texting Your Ex, Not Abortion
Florida recently fined a doctor $10K for violating their 24-hour waiting period before providing an abortion – unintentionally, of course, because the state couldn’t even clarify when their asinine law took effect. Despite trying to adhere to the law and, according to one judge, no evidence of patients suffering harm without having the waiting period, the clinic itself was also fined $193k… almost three times the amount recommended by the judge! Here’s your reminder: mandatory waiting periods do not benefit abortion patients, they are solely to delay care for abortion seekers. On the other hand, when we’re thinking of hitting our ex with a “wyd,” we’re all for that waiting period.
We Wish This Would Ruin the Tour
Pope Francis started 2025 reaffirming his commitment to the worst takes by encouraging people to reject abortion and “respect the dignity of human life from conception to natural death.” This follows previous bangers on abortion, such as calling it “hiring a hitman to solve a problem,” and criticizing abortion as “homicidal.” Thank goodness we don’t actually care what he thinks!
