Omg – it’s almost here. Election Day. Last night we tricked, we treated, and now we wait to see what real world horrors are about to be unleashed. We’re nauseous, nervous, excited, a little bit gassy, but we are ready. There is nothing to do but sit and wait, so grab a drink and some comfy slippers, break down the latest abortion news, and then dissociate with us until all of the results are in!
Girl Math, But Uteri
If you have a uterus, you are likely all too familiar with the internal math that happens to avoid pregnancy, especially in a post-Roe world. With the groundbreaking ability to buy birth control pills over the counter (WE SEE YOU O-PILL), a new Biden administration proposal would require insurance carriers to cover the costs of over-the-counter birth control methods! The downside? It would not cover those on state-controlled Medicaid, primarily low-income people who need cost assistance. We appreciate the effort, but can we stop leaving out those who need the most support??
Couldn’t We All Use a Buffer Between Us and Harassholes?
There are some things we should all be able to agree on, but apparently, “people deserve to access healthcare without harassment” isn’t one of them. Anti-abortion extremists are asking SCOTUS to give the death blow to protest-free zones outside of abortion clinics in both Illinois and New Jersey. Why, you ask? So that they can get close enough to patients to make eye contact while bothering them. Listen here, nerds – the only eye contact we give when strangers approach us in the wild is the beginning of a very exaggerated eye roll. That’s it.
The Department of Health Propaganda is More Like It, Amirite?
We are begging departments of health to STOP BULLSHITTING THE PUBLIC about their abortion laws and ballot initiatives! The Nebraska Department of Health and Human Services issued a HEALTH ADVISORY to pretend that their bare minimum “exceptions” in the 12-week abortion ban are good enough. With Florida and Missouri officials following the same tired playbook, we want to reiterate one thing: WE KNOW Y’ALL ARE LYING. QUIT IT.
