12 Swimsuits That Will Actually Hold Your Boobs Up

by Erika W. Smith

Recently, I went to the beach for the first time this summer and something miraculous happened: For the first time ever, I left the beach with no neck pain, back pain or shoulder pain because my swimsuit had actual support for my boobs!

My fellow DD+ people know that it can be hard to find a swimsuit that will fit your boobs, and even when you do find one that actually holds them in them, lack of support means that while your boobs are contained, you might not escape back or neck pain.

This song from Crazy Ex-Girlfriend is me:

I’ve scoured the internet for swimsuits that fit these requirements:

1. Are made for DD+ boobs
2. Have straps that are:
– Shoulder straps (Halters = MAJOR neck pain)
– Thick (Spaghetti straps = Shoulder and back pain)
– Adjustable
3. Are actually cute — whether bikini, one-piece, or any other style.

Here we go:

1. GabiFresh X SwimsuitsForAll, The Lady, $63.70

This is the swimsuit that saved my boobs! Cup sizes go up to E/F, straps are wide and adjustable, and there’s underwire for support. Also, my cleavage looked great! If you’re more into bikinis or other colors and patterns, the whole GabiFresh X SwimsuitsForAll collection is pretty amazing and I wish I could wear them all (don’t miss our interview with GabiFresh here).

2. SwimsuitsForAll Swim Sexy The Mastermind Tiki Underwire Swimsuit, $54.60

SwimsuitsForAll also has a great selection of supportive swimsuits in all sorts of styles, and they get major props for included a customizable “Filter By” section where you can pick what you need or do not need in a swimsuit (like underwire — yes or no?).

3. Target’s Marie Meili’s Women’s Plus Size Belize Bikini, $19.99 for top, $14.99 for bottoms

Good ol’ Target has quite a few affordably priced swimsuits in DD+ cup sizes, which is great for those of us who don’t want to spend $100+ on a swimsuit. Also, I’m pretty impressed about how non-Photoshopped the models are!

4. ASOS Fuller Bust Exclusive Chunky Caged Bikini, $36 top, $23 bottoms

Check out ASOS’s Fuller Bust range for quite a few swimsuit options in all types of different styles. This one looks like it offers support without losing any sex appeal.

5. Modcloth’s Beachy As ABC Bikini, $26.99 for top, $24.99 for bottoms

Modcloth also offers some good, cute options for larger cup sizes, like this retro-inspired bikini that just calls for a cocktail and giant sunglasses.

Bare Necessities — a bra brand known for carrying a wide selection of bra sizes for busty ladies — has a pretty extensive swimwear selection as well. This polka dot bikini is pretty adorable.

When I made a list of brands that offer both straight and plus sizes, quite a few of you told me I should have included Lands’ End. The brand offers classic swimsuits up to DDD cups, like this cute and colorful one piece.

11. J Crew DD Cup Ruched Femme One-Piece Swimsuit, $104

J Crew is another place to look for classic, preppy swimsuits.

Forever21 has a limited selection of plus size swimwear — but they’re among the lower priced ones you’ll find out there. This athleisure-inspired bikini is very cool.
