6 Workouts to Keep Your Body Moving This Quarantine Season

by Elizabeth Winn

I’m on day 12 of self-quarantining. Or is it day 15? Day 10?

I can’t seem to remember when I last left the house — can you? Life has been kind of feeling foggy recently, with each day running into the next. People are saying that this is the time to think, reflect, and create, and maybe that’s true. But we also still need to move. My daily commute from my bed to the fridge to my desk isn’t cutting it anymore. I can’t remember the last time I sweat (not including when my landlord jacked up the radiator in my apartment the other night). If you’re feeling stuck in this kind of rut too, don’t fret.

I’ve done some research and found us the best ways to break a sweat during this quarantine season — these are all affordable options led by trained instructors, and best of all, you won’t have to leave home (even if home is a very small apartment).

Digital Dancorcism

Digital Dancorcism is a donation-based virtual class where you can join a session to work on celebrating human health, moving energy, and getting your heart beating with a group of other people while still social distancing.

The class is taught by Debbie Attias on Zoom every Sunday from 4 to 5 p.m. Standard Eastern Time. Click here to register and here to donate.

Yoga with Adriene

Offering everything from free 15-minute meditation sessions to 50-minute yoga classes, Adriene Mishler is an international yoga instructor that posts videos regularly to her YouTube channel.

For Mishler, it’s important that she offers people access to yoga and mindfulness in order to inspire everyone — no matter their age, size, or gender — to just get on the mat. You can find Mishler’s YouTube channel here and more information about her here

Yoga for Witches

Yoga for Witches is an hour-long beginner-friendly yoga class where yoga instructor and witch, Haylin Belay, uses the Major Arcana cards of the Tarot to conduct the class. Belay teaches varied classes where yogis will be able to work at their own pace on their yoga asana, breathwork, guided meditation, and self-massage.

Right now, classes are donation-based and take place every week day from 12 -1:15 p.m. Standard Eastern Time through April 15. Click here for the class schedule and livestream link, and here to donate.

Fit for the Apocalypse Aerobics

If the idea of an hour-long yoga class or 30-minute core workout feels like too much right now (honestly, same), then Alice Bag’s Fit for the Apocalypse two-minute aerobics workout is fun video to get you moving. Dance around with the music icon to some of her favorite songs.

Check out Alice Bag’s YouTube channel here for all of her workout videos.

Action Team Fitness

Action Team Fitness right now is livestreaming their workouts two times a day on Instagram. With everything from pilates to strength and conditioning, these donation-based workouts are taught by partners Sarah Ghilardi and Chris Parnell daily.

Click here to go to their Instagram page for their most recent class schedule and to join their livestream.

The Fitness Marshall Dance Workout

The Fitness Marshall Dance Workout is a 30-minute high energy workout that gets your hips moving, your feet jumping, and your body sweating to the beat of the music. If you missed the March 21 livestream, click here for the link to dance your quarantine worries away with Caleb Marshall, and check his YouTube channel for more fun dance routines.
