Have plans for this weekend? What’s that you say? You were just going to lie around catching up on your Netflix queue and pretending to clean your apartment? I’ve got something much, much better. BUST is partnering with The Seed: A Vegan Experience, a celebration of all things vegan and eco-friendly happening this Saturday, June 16th, from 10am – 7pm and this Sunday, June 17th, from 10am – 5pm in NYC.
Buy your tickets ($20 for one day, $30 for both) in advance here or at the door, and the price of admission covers an incredible array of things to see, do, and, of course, eat! These two full days of vegan immersion will include the chance to sample goodies from some of New York’s best vegan restaurants. You can even learn how to whip up veggie-based meals of your own at several cooking demonstrations. Once you’re full, peruse the wide variety of cruelty-free products and services offered by participating earth-conscious vendors.
In addition, dozens of speakers and workshop leaders will be on hand to impart their words of wisdom about living life as a vegan. From athletes to activists, authors to artists, these folks will share their stories and inspire you to pursue the best the vegan lifestyle has to offer. The Keynote Speaker will be Dr. Joel Fuhrman, a specialist in preventing and reversing disease through healthy eating and other natural methods.
The Seed is also holding film screenings, including looks at Forks Over Knives, Vegucated, and the first public NYC showing of Lunch Hour, about the American school lunch system. There will be time for a Q&A with the directors, so come with your questions and comments!
While you’re there, head on over to the BUST Magazine Craftacular, featuring tons of super cool, eco-friendly craftsmen selling everything from jewelry to screen printed T-shirts. Life with Tigers will be on hand offering handmade toys and gifts, including a delightfully strange catnip toy in the shape of a severed human leg (my cat already put in his order). The Fisher Cat Fiber Co. has hand-dyed yarns and fibers crafted into high-quality, earth-happy rugs and bags, so you can do your grocery shopping in vegan-friendly style.
