An Instagram photo shared to the official Gilmore Girls account has us thinking. Wait…What’s that very deliberately placed apple doing with all those pop-tarts? When have we ever seen a Gilmore eat an apple?
If you’re pondering the meaning of this round-red-fruit, look no further than season 5, episode 21: “Blame Booze and Melville.” Lorelai and Luke have drunken, unprotected sex and Lorelai believes she is pregnant when she craves an apple — similar to what happened when she was pregnant with Rory. What the what? That’s right — there are pregnancy rumors for the upcoming revival!
Debates about which Gilmore it could be abound. With Rory being 32 and Lorelai being 48, fans speculate it’s more likely Rory, but both are possibilities. Skeptics claim it’s just a silly reference to when Lorelai placed an apple on the plate of pop-tarts when Rory had classmates from Chilton over, stating that it was “festive.” Either way, that apple is there for a reason — and we just can’t wait to learn why!
