Watch The Knife Shake Up a Waiting Room in New Video

by Amy Carlberg

Today The Knife released a preview of their new digital EP, “Shaken-Up Versions,” featuring a video for the “shaken-up version” of “Without You My Life Would Be Boring” and three remixes. The EP will be available digitally June 17th with CD and vinyl versions to follow, and was developed in conjunction with their Shaking the Habitual Tour.

If “habitual” is music videos filled with blondes with suntans, beaded with sweat, bottles raised in the air, this new video certainly shakes it up. The cast is made up of perfectly ordinary-looking people you’d expect to find in an actual waiting room, including many young women with different skin tones and body types. One dances from a wheelchair, some have tattoos and another lets her belly hang out from a sports bra. The only obvious similarity between the dancers is that they all wear red, along with grins from ear to ear.

My favorite parts are when they pass around a ball of electricity that makes everybody party, and when the little girl pulls a recorder out from behind her comic book. It gets a little gratuitous when bodily fluids get involved (doesn’t it always?) but knowing the Knife, I wouldn’t expect anything less than trippy to the max.
