Watch, Listen to, and Fall in Love with Angel Olsen

by Samantha Vincenty

Angel Olsen is a Chicago-based singer songwriter, and her 2012 album Half Way Home got a LOT of play in my apartment last year. Check her out on Spotify if you enjoy Patsy Cline, Bonnie “Prince” Billy (she’s toured with him), or beautiful folk songs about restless wandering and dudes who don’t call. If you get the chance to see her live, do—she played Pitchfork Music Festival last summer and managed to turn day-drunk festival goers into a mostly silent crowd of mesmerized fans.

Olsen just dropped a video for “Forgiven/Forgotten” from the upcoming Burn Your Fire for No Witness, a song that’s a bit of a departure from her earlier sound. It revisits her recurring theme of longing for a person or time since passed and adds way, way more guitar fuzz. Rock n’ roll looks good on you, Angel.
