The Oregon Zoo just posted an adorable video of their two-month-old river otter Molalla learning to swim. Otter keeper Becca VanBeek explains that otters are practically immobile when they’re babies, so Mo’s mom Tilly has been easing him into the water. Baby Mo was as big as “a handful of jellybeans” (!!!) when he was born, but he’s now a 2000-gram pup with “quite the personality.”
To honor the first river otter born at Oregon Zoo, Metro is donating money from every visit to help restore the local wetlands where otters live. This is reason enough for anyone in Portland to visit Tilly and Mo in person. Get a taste of the exhibit and watch them swim below:
