Vendor Spotlight: Awesome Art From Ink + Sword

by Intern Yasmin

Whether you’re decorating your first teeny-weeny-itsy-bitsy studio or trying to re-vamp the house you’ve been in for decades, there’s nothing worse than having a friend (or worse, the exterminator guy) come into your spruced-up pad only to say “Oh, I have that [insert painting/vase/dinette set/other item from Ikea/Target/Crate and Barrel here] at my house too!” But that sort of awkward and mildly ego-crushing experience is inevitable when you make purchases at “big box” stores where, let’s face it, you and everyone shop because it’s convenient and cheap and…*yawn*

But thanks to websites like Etsy and amazing local events like this weekend’s BUST Craftacular at The Seed, amazing handcrafted (read: unique and beautiful) art from artist’s collectives like Ink  + Sword can bump the Marilyn Monroe reprint off your wall (and the walls of every fresh woman at every college, ever) to the back of your closet, never to be commented upon again.

The artists at Ink + Sword, based in Brooklyn, offer vibrant, original prints that fall under fun themes like “Pet Care Prints,” “International Proverbs,” and the “Stellar Science Series.” Not only are their pieces unique, but most also fall at or under $12.  You can check out more on their Etsy site (which offers free shipping!), artist Jedidiah’s awesome blog, the Ink + Sword website, and best of all, in person at the Craftacular this weekend!

You can find more information about The Seed (June 16-17), and buy advance tickets here! And look out for more Vendor Spotlights in the coming days.
