Mark your calendars, ladies, and get your party hats on for V to Shining V, the First Annual Day of Pride for Women! On September 27th, block parties, house parties and all sorts of festivities will be hosted nation-wide to celebrate womanhood and to inspire people to vote in this coming November’s state elections.
The event was created by the group Lady Parts Justice, a politically active team of comedians, technologists and cultural influencers. Their goal is to get other people involved in their local governments—to replace anti-choice politicians with pro-choice, pro-women politicians, to expose and overturn crazy sexist legislation, and to have an awesome time doing it.
So how can you celebrate V to Shining V? It’s easy! You can host a public event by signing up on the website, a private event by inviting some friends over and playing fun party games like “shitty law charades,” or a really private one by chilling alone with a bottle of rosé and some craft supplies. If none of those options appeal to you, there are eight big VTSV blowouts happening across the country with performers like Ted Leo, Cheetah Chrome, Holly Miranda and Sarah Silverman!
If you do want to host an event, public or private, you can register here. Don’t forget to order a super special party kit, and don’t forget to vote for your reproductive rights this November!
