Under His Eye – The Handmade’s Tale Series Is Coming To An End. Don’t Miss This Amazing Exhibit Featuring Costumes and Props From The Show

Hulu’s The Handmaid’s Tale has had us all shook since it debuted in 2017, particularly because the dystopian hellscape for women seems increasingly more possible as the years have gone by. Based on Margaret Atwood’s novel, the series stars Elisabeth Moss as June Osborn, who is captured and forced to live as a “handmade” in Gilead (formerly The United States). The new regime treats women as property of the state and forcing the women that are fertile into sexual servitude. The sixth and final season premiers today on HULU and in conjunction The Paley Museum in NYC is opening The Legacy of The Handmaid’s Tale: June’s Evolution from Handmaid to Rebel.

June’s iconic red handmaid’s dress, cloak, and white winged bonnet are on display as well as her prison uniform, Serena Joy Waterford’s (Yvonne Strahovski) teal dress, and some of the costumes worn by Aunt Lydia (Ann Dowd), Commander Lawrence (Bradley Whitford), Rita (Amanda Brugel) and Hannah (Jordana Blake). And there will be four never before seen costumes from the final season.

You can also get a glimpse of Commander Waterford’s Scrabble board, Nichole’s doll from Nick, June’s Boston map and Handmaid muzzle, and many other props from the set.

The Legacy of The Handmaid’s Tale: June’s Evolution from Handmaid to Rebel exhibit runs through Sunday, June 8, 2025 and is open Wednesday’s-Sunday’s from 12pm-6pm at The Paley Museum

The final season of Hulu’s Emmy award winning show premieres today – Let the revolution begin.
