Seems like every teenage girl in America is crazy for the Twilight books and the movie that’s being released in a few weeks, a quick search of the internets and you will find thousands of fan sites for the sexy vampire Edward and his family of blood suckers. But what is it about this genre and especially this series that appeals to their moms as well? I found one site that was particularly fascinating, TwilightMoms.com , run by…wait for it… a Mormon mom who’s ‘life has been turned upside down’ as a cause of the books. There are forums to discuss the ‘Hotties,’ and the site was created as a place for twilight loving moms to discuss the books together and gather ‘in OUR STAGE of life (whether you’re a mom or not) to have a have a place where we can gather unashamed of our irrational obsession with vampires and werewolves.’ I guess moms just need a crazy teenybopper crush now and then to get them through the day, is that so wrong? Full disclosure, I read the first book of the series, and I am a mom, but alas, did not fall into the rabbit hole. I will, however, go see the movie mainly to check out Robert Pattinson’s (ahem) acting skills.
