Trump To Pull Federal Funding From Planned Parenthood And Any Health Service That Talks About Abortion

Multiple news organizations are reporting that the Trump administration will soon announce a new rule that will remove federal funding from Planned Parenthood and other health clinics that provide abortions—or even give patients referrals to abortion providers. The policy would be a return to a Reagan-era policy that, as the New York Times puts it, “is often described as a domestic gag rule because it barred caregivers at facilities that received family planning funds from providing any information to patients about an abortion or where to receive one.” Read more at the New York Times.

MTV Halts Production On Catfish Following Sexual Harassment Accusations Against Nev Schulman

MTV has stopped production on the reality show show Catfish following sexual harssment accusations against Nev Schulman. Ayissha Morgan, a lesbian who appeared on Catfish in 2015, posted two YouTube videos in which she describes Schulman sexually harassing her, saying he kept pushing her to reevaluate her sexuality and sleep with him. She also says a female assistant got her drunk or potentially drugged her and then sexually assaulted her. This is just the latest in a series of abuse accusations against Schulman, which also include punching a queer woman in the face repeatedly in 2014. Schulman also has a history of prejudiced tweets, including saying that black girls “tend to catfish a lot” and joking about Ray Rice’s domestic violence against his wife Janay Palmer. Star Wars Writer Says Lando Is Pansexual—But It’s Not In The Movie

Solo: A Star Wars Story co-writer Jonathan Kasdan gave an interview in which he said that Lando is pansexual—but there’s no mention of Lando’s sexuality in the movie. “I would have loved to have gotten a more explicitly LGBT character into this movie. I think it’s time, certainly, for that, “ Kasdan said. At Pajiba, Jodi Smith points out this is part of a trend in which a creator has tried to get praise by saying a character is queer in interviews, but not actually including any mention of the character’s sexuality in the work itself (cough cough JK Rowling cough cough).
