‘Transparent’ Creator Jill Soloway Is Making A Feminist Comedy Series

by PRINCESS WEEKES

Girls and Broad City are going to have another girl-centric comedy joining them: Jill Soloway, creator of the award-winning show Transparent, is working on a new feminist comedy series with #HotMessMoves stars Ashley Skidmore and Lyle Friedman.

The show focuses on two girls who met during summer camp and become super BFFs after getting struck by lightning. Ten year later—with the power of friendship and the concentrated essence of second wave feminism—they have dedicated themselves to saving womankind.
(We can’t help but wonder if there will be a street brawl between second wave and third wave feminists in the middle of an abandoned shanty-town? It sounds like the environment for that.)

Currently untitled, the show will be broadcasted on MTV. Soloway’s creation is part of the grown number of female-centric comedies that have been appearing on television. “Lyle and Ashley have a magical ability to tap into the female psyche, and through their own special brand of truth and humor they absolve us of our most humiliating moments,” Soloway said. “I’m so excited to godmother this show and bring Lyle and Ashley’s fresh take on lady power to MTV.“
