Who caught last night’s salute to the Women of SNL on NBC? It was incredible. It was like one of their many “best of” DVD’s that you usually buy for 50 cents at stoop sales (pre bed-bug craze), but instead of only compiling clips featuring one cast member, they spotlighted all the best bits done by these spectacular comediennes over the past 35 years. It’s really about time for the show to finally give props to these women who have historically made up less than one third of the cast. When the show first started in 1975 the cast was split nearly 50-50, but shortly after women became a minute presence, and only somewhat recently have been able to gain ground again. There are still only 4 female casts members out of the 14 total, and an even more disappointing 20:5 for male-female writers.
For this long-deserved two hour tribute they aired a number of my favorite characters including Sally O’Malley, Mary Katherine Gallagher, that “simma down nah” lady that Cheri Oteri does, and Gilda Radner’s EmilyLitella and Rosanne Roseannadanna. In addition to revisiting these gems 
of sketch comedy, almost all the former female cast members (and the current Kristen Wiig) came back for a reunion sketch a’ la Real Housewives, and then throughout the special chimed in to tell us about their favorite moments over the years. If you missed it, I’m really sorry and hopefully you can find it sometime soon on a stoop near you, but for now why don’t you all tell me which sketches are your favorites, and who’s making you wet your pants!
