Float On
Floating eyeliner, originally made famous in the ’60s by Twiggy, has been modernized with bright pops of color, thick uneven lines, super thin lines, or even broken up lines. Today’s version has no rules.
The easiest method, pictured here, is a thick line of color. Using a chubby color pencil liner (like Sephora Collection Colorful Shadow & Liner in Turquoise, $14), draw a rounded line above your natural eye crease, just below the brow bone. Smudge the sharp pencil line with an eye shadow brush to soften the look. For liquid liner follow the same rule of placement; you can also play with a cat eye shape instead of a rounded shape. Use pink, yellow, blue, or even neon colors (like NYX Vivid Brights Liners, $5.25 to $7). Keep the rest of your face natural—light foundation, little to no powder, blush, and a neutral lip—allowing the eye to be the focal point. Have fun!
