Why walk together when you can rock together? Such must have been the mentality of lovebirds-turned-songbirds Jenny and Johnny. Jenny and Johnny is the musical pairing of indie rock queen, Jenny Lewis, and her equally talented beau Johnathan Rice. The couple met back in 2005 through Bright Eyes front-man Connor Oberst and have been inseparable ever since–Rice joining Lewis’ tour in 2006 for the release of her debut solo album Rabbit Fur Coat. Jenny and Johnny offers an ultra melodic sound that doesn’t seem to stray far from their soulful folk roots that won us over when they were a she and a he, and not yet a we. Rather than starting from scratch, Jenny and Johnny adds another dimension to a pre -existing sound that will charm the pants off of its listeners and leave them feeling lonely at the same time. The duo’s first single “Switchblade” is a lesson in harmony that only proves that Lewis and Rice are match made in musical heaven.
