Perhaps a genderless future isn’t that far from our fingertips.
A new art show featuring a stellar ensemble of all-female artists encourages its viewers to question the limits of gender and its social “norms.” With pieces from 24 artists, LIFEFORCE aims to recode normative expectations celebrating what goes beyond human matter, focusing on the all encompassing power of the female on all levels. The hope of LIFEFORCE’s curators, sisters Kelsey and Rémy Bennett, is for the exhibit to transcend constructs of race and gender, reclaim representation, and explore intersections with science and technology. The collection was inpsired by A Cyborg Manifesto, the feminist science fiction essay by Donna Haraway, and afrofurturists of the ’70s.
