When Nelson Mandela passed away last week, the people of the world collectively mourned and honored the hero. Some of the most poignant moments of grief and gratitude can be found in the most personal and private thoughts. The photographer George Qua-Enoo captured some of these moments in individual lives, asking people on the streets of Cape Town to express how Mandela affected their world. The images and sentiments are all the more moving for the simple way in which they are shot: an individual and his or her message to the late hero.
