Brace yourself. 

Gandhi never said, “be the change you want to see in the world.”  

I’ll give you a few minutes while you go peel the bumper sticker off of your car. 

That is just one of 50 commonly misused and misattributed quotes that author John Green forever ruins by telling us all the hard truth. For some, it might not matter exactly where the quotes came from because the words are still inspiring and provide us with mantras to live by, regardless of their exact origin or direct wording. But if you’re writing a speech, an article, or you just want to sound smart and be kind of a jerk to your friends (or enemies?) when they wrongly use these quotes, go ahead and watch this very informative vid:
