A new magazine aims to teach the world just how fabulous cats and cat owners really are, and it’s amazing. The bi-yearly zine Puss Puss features glamorous models holding and posing with their fancy furry friends. In an interview with New York Magazine’s The Cut, London-based Puss Puss founder and editor-in-chief Maria Joudina-Robinson says she wants the magazine to bust stereotypes about “crazy cat ladies covered in cat hair.”
“I feel like most people who like cats aren’t like that, and are in fact very fabulous and amazing,” she told The Cut. “The magazine isn’t really about cats, it’s more about cat lovers.”
Puss Puss first published in 2014, and is currently on its fifth issue. It’s already gained international attention and has featured celebrity cat lovers like musician Tyler, The Creator and actress-designer Chloë Sevigny. According to Joudina-Robinson, cats actually have a lot in common with trends in the fashion industry.
“There are so many expressions that are to do with fashion or beauty that come from cats: kitten heels, the feline flick,” she said. “If someone is told that they’re quite feline, they’ll take it as a compliment.”
Puss Puss is available online and at various locations across New York City, and continues to set high goals. For its fifth issue, Grace Coddington, former model and the creative director at large for Vogue, is the cover star.
“I hope Karl Lagerfeld is next,” Joudina-Robinson said of the famous fashion designer. “That would be the dream and then you can retire.”
We’re rooting for you, Puss Puss!
