The YouTube Channel to Satisfy Your Summer Craft Cravings

by Mary Rockcastle

There’s something in crisp summer air that brings out the crafter in all of us. For us here in the city, it’s just getting nice enough to get out our spray paint, hike up to the roof, and repaint some old side tables (which may or may not be my plan for the weekend).

Are you feeling inspired but you’re lacking projects to conquer? Check out HGTV’s YouTube channel HGTV Handmade. I’m am utterly obsessed with all these ladies and the projects they cook up every week.

Every week one of the five crafty hosts creates a new project and shows you in a DIY tutorial how to make if yourself. My favorite day is Monday with Meg Allen Cole, whose blog I love, and style I emulate. Some of Meg’s best include a faux succulent wreath and an affirmation banner for those of us who are a tad anxious.

Thursdays are special on HGTV Handmade because a host chooses a project from old HGTV episodes and posts it to the channel. They appropriately call it “Throwback Thursday” and it’s both inspirational and amusing to see how crafting used to be so old and stuffy.

Check out the DIY for flower fairy lights below, and tell us if you have any great crafty blogs or YouTubers you can’t live without!
