The Soundtrack Series Presents: NYC Madonnathon at (Le) Poisson Rouge!

Attention all NYC-based, Madonna-lovin’ BUSTies: this Thursday, March 22, (Le) Poisson Rouge is hosting the March Madness Madonnathon to celebrate the publication of Madonna & Me: Women Writers on the Queen of Pop. The (incredibly titled) Madonnathon is part of a weekly event at The Gallery at LPR called The Soundtrack Series — where host Dana Rossi invites writers to spill their stories about songs that they always associate with certain events in their lives. (Here’s an example of a typical story told at the Soundtrack Series: the hilarious Ronica Reddick on tumors and Beyonce’s “Love on Top”.) This week, all of the contributors to the Madonna & Me anthology will be Expressing Themselves on their relationships with just Madonna songs.

Dana Rossi revealed in the Soundtrack Series blog that she’ll be talking about the unforgettable live performance of “Future Lovers/I Feel Love” from Madonna’s Confessions Tour (although her essay in the anthology is about a time she was dressed as Madonna and got held up at gunpoint!). The other writers at the event will be Susan Shapiro, Laura Barcella, Gloria Feldt, Jamia Wilson, Kristin McGonigle, and Jamie Beckman.

Since this got me in a serious Madonna mood, I’ve been listening to “Borderline” all day and scouring Etsy for a big ol’ leather biker jacket. Join me.

And also join me at Madonnathon this Thursday, 3/22 @ 8pm! (Le) Poisson Rouge is located at 158 Bleecker Street, New York, NY.
