The RNC Gift Bag Has Something Worse Than Trump’s Face In It

by Madelyn Sundquist

You could say that a Trump-themed goodie bag alone is horrendous — sure, his grumpy orange face on his less-than-politically-correct book titled Crippled America is enough to make me gag. But the RNC goes farther this year, including an ever-so-lovely reminder of their staunch stance against a woman’s right to choose — a small, plastic fetus.

Yes, mixed in between the “Make America Great Again” ball cap and the crappy plastic Trump mug is a little figure called a “Young One” manufactured by the pro-life company, Heritage House. Along with “Young One,” you’ll receive an exclusive piece of cardstock, with the inspiring message you can see below:

The Heritage House site itself describes the models as “the most realistic fetal model ever developed. It’s beautiful detail, softness and weight can really move hearts and change minds!” Well, I think if you’re receiving one of these goodie bags as an RNC attendee, your mind is probably already made up.

This is just another reminder that a Trump/Pence ticket is extremely dangerous. The Republican Party, at this point, has dedicated itself to radically dismantling Planned Parenthood, and they have worked hard to put as many roadblocks as possible between women and their legal right to choose to have an abortion (although, let’s hope this soon changes due to a recent Supreme Court case).

Let’s not forget that the Republican nominee has said that there should be a “punishment” for those seeking this procedure! How 1890 of you, Mr. Trump. For Pence, well, he literally signed a law mandating funerals for aborted fetuses. So, you tell me what kind of perspective he has on the right to choose.

To put it plainly, this little “bonus” product in the otherwise Trump-dominated RNC gift bag disgusts us here at BUST. It’s basically a physical representation of their policy plan for women’s health — misleading and cheap. Whatever your plans are this fall, remember to set aside November 8th for preventing this delusional group of (mostly) men from controlling the future of female bodies’ health and worth.
