The GIRLS Are Back In Town: GIRLS Season 2 Trailer

by Charlotte Dow

The much-anticipated second season of the hit HBO series GIRLS comes back in January and today we got our first real look with the first trailer for Season 2. January can’t come soon enough.

It looks like Season 2 will pick up right where Season 1 left off: Hannah (writer/director Lena Dunham) has moved in with her gay ex-boyfriend Elijah (the hilarious Andrew Rannells), Jessa (Jemima Kirke) is still married to Chris O’Dowd’s Thomas-John, Marnie (Allison Williams) still doesn’t know what to do with her life after breaking up with her boyfriend, and Shoshanna (Zosia Mamet) is getting laid. Adam (Adam Driver) and Hannah have split up, and now Hannah is learning “what happens when you break up with a sociopath.” The season promises appearances from Rita Wilson as Marnie’s mom and Donald Glover as a potential love interest to the newly single Hannah.

The second season promises to show much more of the girls’ individual personalities since they seem to be drifting off in different directions. Jessa seems to be handling her marriage with the same free-spiritedness that dominated her single life, and I’m personally interested to see more of her life with Thomas-John, a man she met all of one time and then agreed to marry. Shoshanna is really coming into her own, taking charge in her relationship with the rather unpredictable Ray. What I’m really curious to find out in Season 2 is what’s going to happen with Hannah and Adam. Will they get back together? Will she move on to someone more stable? Will Adam ever put on a shirt?
