The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo is…

by Intern Brittany J.

It’s been a grueling search for the female lead of the Hollywood adaptation of Stieg Larsson’s The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo. Names have been tossed in the air and shot down like Duck Hunt: Ellen Page, Carey Mulligan, Emily Browning, Emma Watson, Mia Wasikowska, Kristen Stewart. But Sony Pictures has announced today that Lisbeth Salander will be played by Rooney Mara, who recently starred in a remake of Nightmare on Elm Street and in the forthcoming The Social Network about the rise of Facebook. David Fincher will direct, and if that sounds familiar, it’s because he recently worked with Mara on The Social Network as well. She’ll be co-starring with Daniel Craig as Mikael Blomkvist and potentially even Robin Wright as Erika Berger.
