The Birth Control Paradox

Is your birth control making you smell “less attractive” to prospective males? That’s the question scientists at Duke University are researching in a fairly new study conducted with lemurs as test subjects. In the study, female lemurs were injected with the popular birth control, Depo-Provera, also known as the shot. The female lemurs then allegedly sent out a “different scent molecule” than the control group. Males seemed to shun the injected females, leaving scientists wondering if birth control actually effects the chemical make up of pheromones. Obviously, would have to be tested on humans first to prove any relevance to the study done on lemurs. And since human couples do a little more than sniff each other out, those factors would have to be included as well.
