The Best Part About The Olympics Is The Sex Stories

by Becky Nash

Take several thousand young people in prime physical condition from around the world, gather them all in one place, and put them under immense pressure to perform perfectly. It’s pretty obvious what they are going to do to blow off steam once they’re all done with their events. It has become a pattern that every two years during the Olympics, we hear stories about all of the copious amounts of sex happening at the athletes’ village.

We couldn’t help but giggle when we heard that this year a record breaking 450,000 condoms have been ordered to be provided for free for the athletes. Sounds like quite the party! It’s must be pretty epic since it’s quite literally Olympic sex. Here’s a look back on the some of the sexy stuff of Olympics past.

It all started in Seoul in 1988 when there were so many condoms found on the roofs at the athletes’ village that the Olympic Association had to explicitly ban outdoor sex.

In Barcelona in 1992 free condoms began being offered to Olympians to encourage safe sex. Ping Pong player Matthew Syed said he “got laid more often in those two and a half weeks than the rest of my life up to that point.”

70,000 condoms were ordered for the Sydney Olympics in 2000. But they had to send out for 20,000 more after just one week. Javelin thrower Breaux Greer told ESPN that he slept with three women a day at the Olympics and one more in the airplane bathroom on the way home!

Famous soccer player Hope Solo told ESPN that she slept with an unnamed celebrity, before making a drunken appearance on the Today Show with her team at the 2008 Olympics in Bejing. That same year headlines read that there was “More Sex Than Woodstock” at the athlete’s village.

Rumors circulated about an outdoor hot tub orgy at the 2010 Vancouver Olympics. Good thing Vancouver set the record with 100,000 condoms ordered that year.

In London in 2012, the Grindr app crashed when the Olympic athletes arrived. Olympic swimmer Ryan Lochte said: “My last Olympics, I had a girlfriend — big mistake. Now I’m single, so London should be really good. I’m excited.”

The 2014 Sochi Olympics made headlines for how much Tinder was being used during the games. I’m sure that Tinder will get even more business this year since the app has risen so much in popularity recently. Given that the opening ceremonies are tonight, hopefully, we’ll be hearing some more juicy stories soon!
