Taylor Swift Loses Her Shit in Brand New Music Video and It Is EVERYTHING

Ever since Taylor Swift entered the music industry, there has been a running joke in the media about her being a serial dater, emotional and, of course, if a boy breaks up with her, she will write a song about it, dammit.

In her new video for “Blank Space,” directed by Joseph Kahn, Swift appropriates the persona created by the media and personifies her lyrics, “Darling, I’m a nightmare/dressed like a daydream.”

Swift has shed her bouncy curls and Love Story-era dreams and owns this cray personality and takes matters into her own hands.

The video begins like a nice love story should: riding bicycles (inside ‘cuz Tay DGAF), having a picnic, dancing in the living room and looking gorgeous in every outfit. But everything takes a turn with the lyric, “Find out what you want / Be that girl for a month.”

Swift then transforms into the stereotypical “crazy”, knife-weilding, jilted ex-girlfriend that the media claims her to be no matter the circumstances. But she makes it her own. Swift enacts revenge on her former beau and looks damn good doing it. Here are some of my favorites.

Throwing flowers: “Darling I’m a nightmare/ dressed like a daydream. ”

Tossing his phone in a fountain: “You can tell me when its over / If the high was worth the pain.”

Mascara running down her face: “Got a long list of ex-lovers/ they’ll tell you I’m insane.”

Hurting a cake and car: “Cause you know I love the players / And you love the game.”

With the release of her new album 1989, and boasting the largest sales week for a record since 2002, a new era of Taylor Swift is here. She no longer cares about the running joke the media has created- instead she owns it! WERK that insanity- ‘cuz we all know what’s really insane is your level of talent.
