It’s always #FreeTheNipple and #SideBoobSeason, but the sentiment is so much realer during the warmer months. But sometimes boobs can pack a lot of moisture, and though summer is almost over, some of us will still be sweating well into next year.
Over the weekend, the internet lost its shit over the “Ta Ta Towel.” And as funny as a towel specifically for titties sounds, it actually makes a lot of sense.
Erin Robertson invented Ta-Ta Towels after her tiny A/C unit in her LA apartment broke and she couldn’t stop sweating while getting ready to go out on a first date. She details the legend on her website:
“I tried everything: I tucked wash cloths under my breasts, I tried dumping baby powder all over me, I even put a T-shirt on and tucked it under my boobs. While I was blow-drying my hair, I just kept thinking: ‘There HAS to be a better way to keep the beads of sweat from dripping down my stomach.”
Then the same night after the date while she was in bed, eureka!
After teaching herself how to use a sewing machine via YouTube, Robertson had created her first prototypes, at the expense of all the towels in her home. And as all creatives do, she made her friends her guinea pigs, and had them test the invention out. It has even helped one of her friends to clear up a moisture rash that had built up from sweating. That was her greenlight.
Also stated on her blog, pregnant people and breastfeeding parents have found the towels especially useful because the lining was made with “sensitive nipples in mind” and absorbs breast milk that leaks out during feeding.

This is definitely one of those times where I did not know how badly I needed something until I saw it. Something functional, comfortable, and made with my body and needs in mind. Take all my money now! And if nothing else, I’ll just be extra and wear the TaTa Towel as a top during the next heat wave.
