SXSW Announced The One-and-Only Yoko Ono as Guest Speaker!

by Emma Claire Goodman

Renowned artist of many mediums, Yoko Ono is set to appear as a very special featured speaker for the SXSW 25th Music Conference and Festival. In a highly anticipated interview with Jody Denberg, Yoko Ono will be discussing her pioneering, one-of-a-kind life’s work, from the Dada-inspired Fluxus movement in the 1960s, to the Iceland Imagine Peace Tower, and even her creative collaborations with her husband, John Lennon, a love story that continues to inspire romantics and artists today.

Yoko Ono’s work, at once challenging and touching, continues to awe and inspire, uniquely making the universal personal, expressing messages of peace, art, and philanthropy. It is in part due to Ms. Ono’s daring experimentation with sound that the groundwork was laid for punk rock and new wave. In 2009, she received Mojo Magazine’s Lifetime Achievement Award, and she assembled a new PLASTIC ONO BAND for her latest album, Between My Head And The Sky, co-produced with son Sean Lennon, on his Chimera Music label.

Yoko Ono’s interview will take place Friday, March 18th, with what is sure to be an incredible performance at Chimera Music night, the following evening, Saturday, March 19 at The Elysium, 705 Red River St. Austin, TX 78701.

Her ongoing projects can be further detailed at http://www.imaginepeace.com
