SURPRISE! Zooey Deschanel Is A Feminist!

by Brittany Houlihan

Okay, so it’s not surprising, but after her interview in Glamour, the web is abuzz with the “news” about the BUST June/July 2010 cover girl.

She told Glamour, “I’m just being myself.  There is not an ounce of me that believes any of that crap that they say.  We can’t be feminine and be feminists and be successful?  I want to be a f—king feminist and wear a f—king Peter Pan collar.  So f—king what?”

Glamour also asked Deschanel if she wanted to have kids, and she had a great response.  “That is so personal, and it’s my pet peeve when people press you on it.  And it’s always women who get asked! Is anybody saying that to George Clooney?”  PREACH!

While it’s refreshing to hear this when many ladies are claiming, “I’m not a feminist, but…” I’m still wondering why this is news.  Being a feminist shouldn’t be groundbreaking, it should be the norm.  But I suppose it takes more people publicly declaring it to get even more people to do so as well.
