According to data collected by AYI (Are You Interested), a Tinder-style dating app, users respond better to potential partners outside of their own ethnicity when searching for dates. Surveying over 2 million people, the data revealed several things, most notably that all men, except for Asian men, prefer Asian women.
“People are less prejudice when they decide who they want to respond to in an online dating context,” Josh Fischer, VP of Product & Insights for AYI.com told Fusion.
The data also showed that Hispanic, Caucasian, and Asian women prefer Caucasian men. Conversely, Caucasian men are less likely to respond to Caucasian women than women of any other ethnicity. Caucasian women are twice as likely to respond to Caucasian men than to African American men. African American women are more likely to respond to African American men than to Caucasian men.
Invited to speak on the segment was blogger/comedian Kristina Wong, who shared this reaction to the study:
“At first it was sort of upsetting because I feel like it just feeds into the fetishization of Asian women and the stereotype that Asian women are these submissive, delicate, model girlfriend types, but as I thought about it, I took a moment and I was like, SUCK IT WHITE LADIES.” She continued, “I can do anything and some crazy white guy will still like this.”
Wong goes on to spit on the floor, don a viking hat and make her hair blow around using a can of compressed air that she pulls out of nowhere, further proving herself as hilariously awesome.
