7 Must-Have Feminist Items That Give Back To Planned Parenthood

by Leah Thomas

The Donald Trump presidency has brought about many fears: toupees, undeniably horrible spray tans, the world “bigly,” and the loss of reproductive rights (one of these is slightly more life-threatening than the others). President Trump has previously promised to completely defund Planned Parenthood; he also threatened the organization by saying it could keep its federal funding only if it discontinued providing abortions, regardless of the fact that abortion services are privately funded. And more recently, Vice President Mike Pence broke a tie vote in the Senate, approving a bill that would allow states to block their federal funding from going to Planned Parenthood.

To speak out against the GOP’s intolerable agenda, we’ve compiled a list of the best feminist products, complete with pins, tees, and embroideries, as well as the percentage of funds donated to PP with each purchase.

Pussy on Protest Pin

Price: 10

Donation: 100%

The Pussy on Protest pin was created as part of an “activist kit” — it is best worn while contacting your state representatives or taking to the streets (printable protest signs available on their website). The activist site invites pin-wearing customers to join them in their fight against misogyny, stating, “This new reality is a blaring wake-up call to everyone with a pussy.”

Future is Female Sweatshirt

Price: 60

Donation: 25%

Otherwild, a combo retail space/graphic design studio, credits this current navy blue design to the original “The Future Is Female” t-shirt, which was created in 1972 and sold in the first women’s bookstore in New York City, Labyris Books. The company wants to keep this vintage slogan alive, stating, “We believe that ‘The Future is Female’ is the past, the present and the future, and is a language that resonates.”

Handmade Boob Pendants

Price: 25

Donation: 100%

Furious over the new administration, the shop owner of Gillingham Goods on Etsy went from making ceramic bowls to ceramic boobs. Her handmade, clay bosom pendants come in various colors (as they should) — white, dark brown and speckled. The owner and artist expresses her frustration in a brief disclaimer on her site, where she conveys her desire to help “all people, no matter their ability to pay or citizenship status.”

Price: 3

Donation: 100%

The Wing is not only an online store for feminist merchandise (which they refer to as “swag”), it is a penthouse on East 20th Street where women-only members can go to work, mingle or simply rest. These Marilyn Manter-designed pins come in three colors (blue, pink and light pink) and two sizes (1.25″ and 2.25″). The Wing’s mission is simple: provide a bro-absent environment where women can wear their pins in peace and work to “run the world, together.”

Price: 25

Donation: 50%

When Trump disturbingly called HRC a “nasty woman,” during the final presidential debate, feminists everywhere rejoiced, as they had finally been (ever-so-ironically) given the ultimate girl-power hashtag they had been waiting for. The print on this highly sought after t-shirt (worn by celebs like Katy Perry and Will Ferrell) is also available on a sweatshirt, tote bag and coffee mug. The first three words in this item description are: “Seriously, fuck Trump.”
