I really learned how to rock out for real and it felt awesome. – Camper, age 13

Are you a young girl ready to rock? If so, now is the time to break out your… pen and paper (to apply!). The Willie Mae Rock Camp for Girls is now accepting applications for their July and August rock camp sessions in Brooklyn (July 2 – July 7) and Manhattan (August 20 – August 25).

The Rock Camp for Girls, open to girls ages 8 to 18, is a week-long summer camp where girls join a band, come up with a name, design their own logo, and write songs with the help of camp volunteers. At the end of the week, groups perform at a showcase concert. Check out this clip, from one of the showcase concerts last year :

This year, the camp even has a sliding scale for tuition, so that every applicant chosen will actually be able to attend. The Camp is also open to any applicants who self-identify as female, trans, and gender non-conforming. Plus, no musical experience is necessary!

Find more information about applying on their website. What are you waiting for?
