Head out to the West Village to P.J.S. Exhibitions to support female tattoo artist, Stephanie Tamez!
Stephanie Tamez is a Brooklyn based tattoo artist from Brooklyn Adorned. As a female artist, Tamez gives her male counterparts serious competition with her eye for detail and knack for color. Her paintings are like bright lights against nebulous backdrops.
Of her long career in tattooing, she says, “It’s been such an interesting ride—it’s like a huge art school, where I’m studying a melting pot of symbolism: Greek mythology, Tibetan art, Americana … and you meet so many interesting people from all walks of life. Tattooing has allowed me to meet other artists and be exposed to so much cool stuff.”
From July 15th through August 29th, P.J.S. will be showcasing a collection of works by eminent NYC based artists of high standing in the tattoo world. The exhibit is called Metanoia, which is a Greek word for a change of will and the reforming of one’s mind. The collection will include drawings, paintings and etched metals. Tamez radiates talent in the exhibit and I predict that she will most definitely be triggering metanoia among her viewers.
