Queer Women of Color Film Festival This Weekend in San Francisco!

by Ariana Anderson

Queer Women of Color Media Arts Project (Or QWOCMAP, which is a really fun acronym to pronounce) is hosting their 7th annual Queer Women of Color Film Festival this weekend, June 10, 11, and 12, at the Brava Theater in San Francisco.

The Arts Project provides free 16-week workshops to make filmmaking more accessible to be used “as an art form and activist tool.” By supporting civic engagement and promoting visibility of the community QWOCMAP works to create systemic change, and these personal, relevant, and insightful films are a huge part of that.

This year there will be 38 films that all sound incredible, a panel discussion, and two parties marking the beginning and end of the festival. Check out the full schedule here.

The films cover a broad spectrum, from romance to street harassment, romance to softball, anyone can find something they’re interested in.

And the best part is? All screenings are free. Just remember, it’s first come first serve, so arrive early to secure your seats! Visit the official site for all the info you need.
