“Make me a Woman” by Vanessa Davis: Conversation and Signing at The Strand

by Larissa Dzegar

Illustrator and cartoonist Vanessa Davis brings us another collection of her autobiographical comic strips in her new book, “Make me a Woman”. Her reflective style is enhanced by her witty humor in this fun and intimate new book, which she will talk about tomorrow night, October 6th, at The Strand in New York City. The event starts at 7:00pm and will include a slide show, signing, and a conversation between Davis and Marjorie Ingall, co-author of “Hungry” and “Smart Sex”.

Davis draws from her diary, telling stories of her childhood, relatives, and relationships with daring and uncensored familiarity. She shares with us experiences as personal as her adventures in fat camp to her acrobatic attempts at keeping her panties on one night when she hooked up with a guy while on her period.

Illustrated in watercolor, the book is gorgeous and captivating, merging Davis’ many talents and dazzling us with each turn of the page. She is also the author of “Spaniel Rage” and her comics have been featured in Vice, the New York Times, and Tablet

Mark your calendars and check out her website for more information.
