Women Confront Society’s Hate In This Empowering Photo Series

by Gabrielle Diekhoff

New Jersey-based photographer Jess Fielder is empowering women with her stunning new photo series, Project: Self Love. For the shoot, Fielder asked 17 women to “write down something another person has said to them in their lives about their bodies that impacted their self-confidence negatively,” and she photographed the women holding signs that bore those negative quotes.

“Then I had them write down something they know to be true of themselves that has nothing to do with physicality,” she said on Facebook, “I loved the moment of seeing their faces and demeanors change when they held up the second card. They are all beautiful. Period. I hope that for at least those couple hours, they knew it to be true.”

“Beautiful” is an understatement. The photos, and the women in them, are absolutely stunning and are kicking ridiculous beauty standards to the curb. See for yourself.
