One word: Oprah. One conference: Women in the World 2013.
As if Oprah wasn’t enough of a draw-card, this New York City conference on April 4th and 5th has so many amazing speakers that it seems almost unbelievable. The conference will focus on global issues told through the powerful form of first person storytelling. On Friday, Oprah Winfrey will be interviewing her “all time favorite guest,” Dr. Tererai Trent. Dr. Trent is revolutionizing education for women and girls across Africa. A few hours later, Tom Hanks will be offering a special tribute to Nora Ephron, who passed away last year.
Oh, so Oprah and THE Tom Hanks aren’t enough for you? Meryl Streep, Diane Von Furstenberg and Tina Brown will also be speaking, along with previous BUST cover girl America Fererra.
You can also expect to be inspired by such global heroes as Dr. Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, the Minister for Finance for the Federal Republic of Nigeria. Something tells me that’s a pretty intense job!
From Argentina comes Susana Trimarco, founder of the María de los Ángeles Foundation.Through her work, Ms. Trimarco has rescued hundreds of girls from forced prostitution and brought public and government attention to the serious issue of human trafficking in Argentina. Her story sounds like it will be both heartbreaking and inspiring.

So if you live in the New York area (or even if you don’t, this will be worth the travel!), purchase your tickets for the Women in the World Summit 2013 here.
