Party CMJ-Style with BUST This Thursday!

by Bridgette Miller

CMJ Music Marathon kicks off in New York today, which means that from now until the wee hours of Saturday night (or Sunday morning, if you’re doing it right), seemingly every band ever will be playing shows at over 80 venues across the city. (Check out the official CMJ 2012 schedule if you want to get excited and overwhelmed on a Jessie Spano-esque level.) We’re hoping to catch some incredible lineups over the next few days and nights, and we’re pleased to present one of our very own this Thursday.

Because the party never stops during CMJ, and “afternoon ragers” actually rage during this magical whirlwind week, we’ll be hosting our October/November issue release party on October 18 from 2 – 6 PM at Spike Hill in Williamsburg, Brooklyn.

One of our fave bands, the darling Austin, TX duo Agent Ribbons, will finally meet up with us in New York, and we couldn’t be more stoked.  Their newest EP, Let Them Talk, was released on Antenna Farm Records in September; watch the video for “Family Haircuts” below.

Michigan-based power pop trio Lightning Love are the perfect party band, and we’re thrilled to have them providing some afternoon delight in the headlining slot.  You can check out their newest release, Blonde Album, here.

Brooklyn’s own DJ Roller Girl (AKA talented photographer Leila Morrissey) will be spinning sweet tunes the whole time, so put on your dancin’ shoes, ditch work early, and head to Spike Hill on Thursday.  This party is 21+ and, best of all, totally free!

If you haven’t picked up the October/November issue of BUST yet, you can grab a copy to peruse while you get daytime tipsy.  This issue includes “The Insider’s Guide to Brooklyn” (pg. 27), so you can check out what the neighborhood has to offer after you head out– as well as interviews with coverbabe Audrey Plaza, Amanda Palmer, and Doctor Who‘s Matt Smith; mouth-watering pie recipes; and a bewitching fashion spread that’s sure to get you in the Halloween spirit.
