Nicki Breaks Billboard Record- Way to Go, Barbz!

by Janelle

Looks like Nicki Minaj remains on top. Take that Lil’ Kim! Sorry, couldn’t mention one without the other… that’s what they want anyways, right? Nicki Minaj, the crazy self-identified Harajuku Barbie, signed to Young Money is the first female rapper to stay on the Top 200 Billboard Charts Top 10 for fourteen consecutive weeks for her rap album Pink Friday.

Released in November, Pink Friday is jammed with all her personalities, wigs, and signature pink lips. Lil Wayne, founder of Young Money, spoke with MTV News about the success of Nicki’s album and said he was initially telling her what to do and what not to do. Now, Wayne says to her, “I don’t have a clue about what you’re doing right now, but it’s working, [so] do it.”

And it is obviously working; Nicki is breaking all sorts of records on the Billboard charts. Her single “Your Love” from Pink Friday reached the number one spot, making it another first for female rappers in the last decade. Seriously, it’s going to be hard for Lil’ Kim to outdo her now. In this very moment, she’s King.
