New Rocky Horror Photo Book Celebrates The 50th Anniversary Of This Cult Film Classic

The Rocky Horror Picture Show’s enduring cult status is now a visual time capsule in a new photo book Mick Rock Rocky Horror. Iconic music photographer, Mick Rock, known as the “Man Who Shot the Seventies,” was invited by Rocky Horror creator, Richard O’Brien, to shoot behind the scenes during the filming of  Rocky Horror in 1975.  Rock, known for his very recognizable images of Glam and proto Punk Rock greats, who tapped into the sexual undercurrent of the time, Lou Reed, Iggy Pop, T. Rex, Roxy Music, and David Bowie was the perfect choice for this gender bending Glam Rock era musical.

This beautifully packaged volume of photos includes: production stills, behind-the-scenes shots, portraits of the film’s stars Tim Curry, Susan Sarandon, Barry Bostwick, Meatloaf, and others, plus Mick Rock’s commentary. These colorful images capture not just a film but a moment in rock, theatre, and queer art history. This book preserves the wild spirit of Rocky Horror, a joyous document of art refusing to behave.
