New Orleans has been dealt yet another blow this past week with Hurricane Gustav’s visit to the Gulf Coast, but one of the best ways to help the city heal has always been contributing to its musicians.
One of the most unique acts in the city, the New Orleans Bingo! Show, is visiting New York for three shows at Spiegelworld this week, and I can’t think of a better setting to see this vaudeville/cabaret/carnival/lounge/performance art act. If you love old jazz, burlesque, theater, and of course, a good rousing game of bingo, you should be there. The video above gives just a quick taste of what the Bingo! show is all about, but trust me, it’s like nothing you’ve ever seen before.
Shows are September 11 and 12 at 8 PM and September 13 at 8 PM and 10 PM at Spiegelworld at the South Street Seaport.
