The candles came about in Ianthe’s efforts to deliver non-toxic, sophisticated, and conscientious candles to everyone, encouraging meaningful purpose.

Tell us about yourself.
I was raised by artists. I’ve worn many hats. Some of my favorite hats have been actress, writer, singer, stylist and my greatest biggest hat: mom! My candle obsession and desire to create something that would sustain my family led to a literal light bulb moment and I created Objects with Purpose.
How did you get started?
I researched candle materials: what was safe to burn, and what wasn’t. I smelled, touched, and burned hundreds of candles. I looked at candles on the shelves of every store I loved and fine-tuned my tastes. I found great resources and put my vision together with the help of friends and family.
What’s inspiring you right now?
Stories. I believe scents tell a story and evoke memories. I’m inspired by the stories around me. My children, my husband, my parents, my friends, trees, chocolate, music, philosophy, they’re all inspirations for the different scents I create.
Any advice for those starting out in the handmade industry?
Trust your taste. Bravely share your ideas and prototypes before they’re perfected and ask for feedback. Keep strong, loving boundaries. Those who elevate you should be in your closest circle; those with envy or toxicity should be kept at a very far distance. Do what you love!
What are you most looking forward to at the BUST Craftacular in Los Angeles?
Being amongst artists and makers. I can’t wait to get inspired and encouraged by the their booths and lovely shoppers I’m sure to encounter.
