It’s no secret that we have a lot of love for former BUST cover girl Mindy Kaling. I myself offered to send her a birthday card, but I don’t think my higher-ups would trust me with her address. Nor should they, probably.
Anyway, today the lovely lady turns 34, a pretty unremarkable age, but cause for celebration nonetheless! So let’s take a trip down memory lane to see how Mindy went from comedy-obsessed star student to comedy-creating super star! Here’s a couple of awesome things you may or may not know about Miss Mindy.
Mindy is an Ivy Leaguer and graduate of Dartmouth University (so fancy!)
She co-wrote and starred in a play called “Matt & Ben” with her best friend Brenda Withers…in which she played Ben Affleck.
She interned for Conan O’Brien, which is quite possibly the coolest internship ever….second only to interning at BUST (ahem).
At 24, she was the only female staff writer on The Office, and joined the cast as the always fierce, slightly sadistic, and fashionably vapid Kelly Kapoor.
Her friendship with BJ Novak also facilitated the greatest romance of our time.
She wrote the hysterical best-selling memoir “Is Everyone Hanging Out Without Me?” which, coincidentally, was one of my favorite Christmas gifts. And something I’ve been asking myself since I was 12.
She’s created and is currently starring in The Mindy Project. If you haven’t watched it already, first of all, how dare you? Second of all, get on that immediately.
She does shots with Amy Poehler. Swoon.
