Another day, another update giving Milo Yiannopoulos an extra minute of fame that he doesn’t deserve. In response to being permanently banned from Twitter for his relentless harassment of Leslie Jones, Milo unfortunately gave a statement further polluting the world with his words.
He said, “With the cowardly suspension of my account, Twitter has confirmed itself as a safe space for Muslim terrorists and Black Lives Matter extremists, but a no-go zone for conservatives.” Well, Milo, if being a conservative means harassing people, trying to make them feel as small as you are with bigoted comments, then yeah, make it a no-go conservo zone.
In case you don’t know, Yiann-nope-olus dedicates his sad life to rocking the social media boat, tackling celebrities, journalists, and women who dare to tweet. As a leader of the “alt-right” online presence, like all other internet trolls, he targets specific groups and strategies ways to harass them.
Vox very eloquently explained Milo’s Twitter ban and described his alt-right group as “sustaining negative focus on any media product deemed to be pandering to feminism or progressive calls for diverse representation.” BUST wrote more about Yiannohwhocares when he was first banned.
An article on the “site” Milo works for put out a *cough* hilarious article updating us on how up in arms his followers, a.k.a. sad-boys-whose-protests-didn’t-get-the-Ghostbusters-reboot-shut-down-no-matter-how-loud-they-typed, are, featuring tweets with the hashtag #freemilo, a hashtag that he no doubt started himself.
The article and Milo’s lackeys are calling for lawyers to sue Twitter because #freedomofspeech. I guess they don’t realize that freedom of speech doesn’t apply on a platform that has rules against egregious amounts of harassment. In a perfect Trump-like fashion, the article on Milo’s site calls out Twitter for being poor, as though it aides in the argument.
At least Milo will be able to tell his grandkids about the time he complained about a movie and harassed an actress enough to get kicked off Twitter, and then call it a “free speech movement.”
